Remove Stubborn Fat Using Kybella, SculpSure
Having a slim, trim, toned body is a goal just about anyone would love to achieve. But sometimes even diet and exercise can't rid your body of stubborn pockets of fatty tissue. While some areas of the body respond very well to a combination of diet and exercise, other areas are less cooperative, leaving you with persistent areas of fatty tissue. For most people, these exercise-resistant fatty deposits occur in the belly and flanks (a.k.a., “love handles"). As we get older, the fat in these areas can accumulate more quickly and be even more difficult to get rid of. If you’ve ever tried slimming down, you know how discouraging it can be to find all your best efforts aren’t enough to get rid of these areas of flabby, fatty tissue. That's why we offer Kybella and SculpSure to easily remove stubborn fat safely in our office. These non-invasive options can greatly reduce unwanted fat in areas that are difficult to target with diet and exercise such as:
- Love handles
- Belly, tummy and abdominal fat
- Inner & outer thigh fat
- Saddlebags
- Bra line & back fat
- Arm fat
- Double chin fat
- Knee fat
- Chest/breast area
Kybella FAQs
What is Kybella?
At Halo, we use Kybella to treat the fat under the chin, usually referred to as a “double chin,” or the clinical term, “submental fullness.” Fat under the chin is difficult to get rid of because it can be caused by aging and genetics, making it hard to take off with diet and exercise alone.
Kybella is an injectable treatment that permanently destroys fat cells in the treatment area under the chin. It uses a non-human and non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, which occurs naturally in the body to help break down fat.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The treatment goes in a series, with multiple injections per treatment. Up to six treatments may be given with at least one month apart. However, needs may vary based on how much fat you are treating and appearance goals, so your Halo team member can discuss what individual treatment will look like for you.
How Does Kybella Work?
When Kybella is injected into the skin, it permanently destroys fat cells. Once these cells are destroyed, they can never store or accumulate fat. Fat that leaves the area is naturally cleared by the body through its own metabolic mechanisms.
Can Anyone Get Kybella?
Kybella comes with a few restrictions. For instance, it is not recommended for anyone with excessive skin laxity. There are some additional restrictions from there. Your Halo team member can go over whether Kybella is right for you.
Does Kybella Have Side Effects?
Common Kybella side effects include swelling, bruising, pain and numbness in the treatment area. Swelling tends to be mild and lasted a median of 11 days in clinical studies. Some rare side effects can be serious. Your Halo clinician can walk you through side effects and address your concerns, if you have any.
What Are the Results of Kybella?
Every treatment we recommend here at Halo has been proven scientifically to work and has been carefully researched and reviewed by Dr. B. In clinical trials, 79 percent of Kybella patients had improved satisfaction with their appearance.
SculpSure FAQs
What is SculpSure?
At Halo, we use SculpSure for body sculpting. SculpSure is a non-invasive procedure that contours the body by reducing stubborn fat. The procedure can treat areas like stubborn belly fat, under the chin, thighs, back and love handles. It’s the perfect treatment for areas that have proven to be resistant to diet and exercise.
In the 25 minutes the procedure takes, up to 24 percent of the treated fat cells are destroyed. The treatment itself is delivered by a laser that cycles on and off. This raises the temperature of the fat cells beneath the skin’s surface, which damages their structural integrity. The body then eliminates the cells using its lymphatic system over the following 3 months.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
Treatment needs vary from patient to patient and the area being treated. In most cases, you can see the best results when you do a series of treatments. Your Halo clinician can walk you through what the treatment process will look like for what you are working to treat.
What Do the Treatments Feel Like?
Typically, patients reported feeling a deep warmth during treatment, with tingling sensations here and there. It’s not to the point of discomfort, and many patients state they can easily tolerate the sensations.
What Will the Results Be Like?
You will not see results right away. At about 6 weeks following treatment, you may begin to notice results as the body eliminates the destroyed fat cells. It’s common to see the best results around 12 weeks after treatment.
Because fat cells are destroyed with this treatment, they will not regenerate, leading to lasting results. That’s because destroying fat cells is different from gaining and losing weight. Throughout our lives, we typically have a set number of fat cells in our body. Losing weight simply means the fat cells get smaller. But SculpSure actually destroys these cells for good.
What Can I Expect for Recovery?
There is no downtime. You will be able to get back to your normal activities right away. This is a non-invasive procedure, and your skin’s surface remains unaffected.
