“I don’t have to spend near the amount of time trimming my beard, and I look less like a mountain man. I don’t have to worry about that any more. I look a lot more professional. Before, it would almost look like a baby diaper rash all over my neck just because it was in the fold of my neck. And with sweat and dirt, it was inevitable. You wouldn’t think those small things make a difference, but they do.”—Brian Peterson, Northbrook
Two Decades of Painful Razor Bumps
Brian Peterson had a problem: painful razor burn on his neck. Until he came to Halo, he had been plagued by razor bumps under his beard since he was 16 years old.
“I was in the Army for 17 years,” Brian says. “I had 17 years of just razor bumps. I was absolutely sick and tired of having it. I was like, ‘Look, I need to do something about this.’”
And that’s when he turned to laser hair removal from Halo after being referred by some friends.
Brian says he went through six or seven laser hair removal sessions, with a month between each session. His results? Brian says it removed all of the razor bumps and 90 percent of the hair.
“I don’t have to spend near the amount of time trimming my beard, and I look less like a mountain man,” he says. “I don’t have to worry about that any more. I look a lot more professional. Before, it would almost look like a baby diaper rash all over my neck just because it was in the fold of my neck. And with sweat and dirt, it was inevitable. You wouldn’t think those small things make a difference, but they do.”
Quality Care Throughout the Whole Process
During his treatments, Brian says he was impressed by the Halo staff. Every single time he came into the clinic, he says he was greeted warmly.
“All of the staff, including the doctor, were always very attentive," he recalls. "Of course, I appreciated that.”
Brian had his appointments on Saturdays, and by Monday or Tuesday, he was getting follow-up calls from the staff to see how he was doing and to make sure the treatments were going well. “I’ve never done anything cosmetic like this. But I’ve been to plenty of doctors' offices. Halo's level of follow up was more than I had ever received,” Brian says.
He found the Halo team also took time to explain in-depth the skincare and other protocol he should follow after each treatment.
Managing Expectations
In addition to the way he was treated, Brian says Halo did a good job of managing his expectations. Throughout the process, the Halo team told him what results he could expect from the treatments. “They gave me the expectations and they met them,” Brian says.
The price point was also a draw. He had looked all around the Chicago and north suburban area at places he had received recommendations for, but he found that other places with similar treatments were 50 to 75 percent more expensive. “Halo did a really good job of hitting the balance between cost and quality,” Brian says.
The big question is: Would he come back to Halo? He says yes. "If I had anything else that they offer that I would need, I wouldn’t hesitate to go back."
