You've tried clean eating. You've joined the gym. You've done keto, intermittent fasting, calorie counting. Maybe you lost 15 pounds — and watched 20 come back. You're not lazy. You're not weak. You're up against a hormonal system that's been wired to defend every pound you carry.
GLP-1 medications are a genuine medical breakthrough — but only when they're dosed and monitored properly. The wrong dose burns muscle along with fat. The right dose, paired with the right protein and strength protocol, gets you to a body composition you can actually keep.
That's what we do at Halo. No telehealth shipping you a pen and hoping for the best. Just Dr. B, your labs, your body comp numbers, and a plan adjusted to you.
Book Free Consultation →This isn't an appetite suppressant. It's a metabolic switch.
The constant "food noise" goes quiet. You stop thinking about your next meal.
Your body shifts to using stored fat for energy — finally.
Blood sugar stabilizes. Inflammation drops. A1c numbers improve.
"Most people on GLP-1 lose 30–40% of their weight as muscle. That's a disaster — it tanks your metabolism and guarantees rebound. The whole point of a physician-led program is to make sure that doesn't happen to you."
This is what almost no one talks about. The standard GLP-1 result — left to chance — is that up to 40% of every pound lost is muscle. That's why so many people on GLP-1 hit a wall, plateau, then gain it all back the moment they stop the medication.
At Halo, we build muscle preservation into your plan from day one. Here's how:
Both are FDA-approved, once-weekly treatments. Dr. B will recommend the right one for your goals, health history, and budget.
Four simple steps. No mystery, no surprises, no telehealth black box.

Dr. B adjusts dose · body composition first check · 10+ lb typical
10–15% body weight gone · A1c improves · muscle preserved
Reach target · transition to maintenance dose · keep what you've built

We'd rather you go in with eyes open. Here's the real picture.
"I'd been 40 pounds heavier than I wanted to be for 10 years. Tried everything. Dr. B started me on a GLP-1 and walked me through the protein and training piece. Six months later I'm down 32 pounds — and the body comp scan shows it's almost all fat. I kept my strength. I never thought that was possible."
"My doctor told me my A1c was prediabetic and I needed to 'just lose weight.' I'd been trying for years. Dr. B got me on a GLP-1, watched my labs every month, and adjusted as we went. A1c is now in normal range. Down 25 pounds. I feel like myself again."
Most people do. Here are the ones we hear most — straight answers, no fluff.
Both are once-weekly treatments. The single-action GLP-1 option is the proven standard. The dual-action GLP-1 + GIP option tends to drive slightly more weight loss and better appetite control, but costs more. Dr. B will recommend the right one for you during your consultation.
Honestly? Most telehealth GLP-1 services ship you a pen and a generic dosing schedule. They don't run your labs, they don't track your body composition, they don't see you in person, and they don't catch the muscle loss until it's already happened. Dr. B does all of that — and you have a real physician to call when something feels off.
Not if you follow our protocol. Without it, the average GLP-1 patient loses 30–40% of their weight as lean muscle — which tanks metabolism and guarantees rebound. With Halo's protein targets, resistance training guidance, and dose calibration, most of our patients preserve 85–95% of their lean mass.
Most patients lose 10–20% of their body weight over 6–12 months. The dual-action option tends to drive higher loss (15–22%) than the single-action (10–15%). Your individual results depend on starting weight, dose, how closely you follow the protein and training protocol, and how your body responds. Body composition matters more than the scale — we'll track both.
Most common: nausea, mild fatigue, bloating, and reduced appetite (which is partly the point). These are typically mild and resolve within the first few weeks as your body adjusts. We use slow dose escalation to minimize them. Less common: constipation, acid reflux. Serious side effects are rare and we screen for the conditions that increase risk.
GLP-1 isn't appropriate for everyone. Contraindications include personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2 syndrome, history of pancreatitis, certain GI conditions (severe gastroparesis), pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Dr. B reviews your full history during your consultation — if it's not right for you, she'll tell you.
Not necessarily. Most patients reach their goal weight in 6–12 months, then transition to a maintenance "microdose" or taper off gradually with our maintenance plan. Some choose to stay on long-term because they feel best on it. Either way, the protocol — protein, training, body comp tracking — sets you up to keep what you've built.
Sometimes — but rarely without a fight. Insurance typically requires BMI > 30 (or > 27 with comorbidities) and prior weight-loss attempts documented. We're a self-pay practice, but we can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Self-pay is often faster than fighting prior auths.
Yes — a baseline metabolic panel is required before starting any GLP-1 plan, to confirm safety and establish a starting point for monitoring. We repeat labs at 8–12 weeks and quarterly thereafter (included in our Metabolic Reset plan; add-on in others).
Some patients respond more slowly than others. If you're not seeing the results we expect by month 2–3, Dr. B will adjust your dose, switch your medication, or re-evaluate other contributing factors like thyroid, hormones, or sleep. You're not on your own — that's what monthly check-ins are for.
30 minutes with Dr. B. We'll talk through your history, what you've tried, what your labs would tell us, and whether GLP-1 is the right next step.
