Your Skin Has Receipts

Every Summer You Loved Is Now On Your Face.

Years of having fun in the sun can take a huge toll on your skin tone and texture. The freckles you used to love at 25 turned into brown patches. The "bronze" on your chest is now a constellation of dark spots. The backs of your hands keep telling on you no matter how well you've kept the rest of your face.

You can layer concealer. You can stay out of the sun. None of it fades what's already there.

Good news: modern laser and light treatments actually erase pigment — and at Halo, we get clinically significant results in as few as one session. Not six. Not ten. One.

Let's Fade It
What Sun Damage Looks Like

Four Ways the Sun Shows Up on Your Skin.

Each type responds best to a specific treatment. Knowing what yours is, is step one.

Type 01

Age Spots / Sun Spots

Discrete brown spots from years of UV exposure — on face, chest, hands, shoulders.

Type 02

Freckles & Diffuse Pigment

Clusters of pigment that have darkened or multiplied over time — often hormonal + UV combined.

Type 03

Redness & Capillaries

Facial flushing, rosacea, broken capillaries, and telangiectasia — sun and time stress vessels.

Type 04

Photo-Aging Texture

Crepey skin, fine lines, enlarged pores — sun damage's effect on collagen and skin quality.

Why We Get Results Faster

Other Practices Sell Packages of Six. We Often Need One.

Other practices offer BBL treatments in packages of six or more, but at Halo, you'll likely notice significant results after just one treatment. For more advanced cases of pigment concerns, we often recommend three treatments — still half what most clinics push.

The Science

"A recent study by Stanford Dermatologists shows that regular BBL treatments are able to functionally rejuvenate aged skin cells."

Why we get there faster: better cooling control by the Halo team equals deeper and better treatment effectiveness. The more effective the treatment, the fewer you need. In essence, our advanced BBL technology saves you money. And because Halo Medicine™ is the world's most experienced Sciton laser provider, we know exactly how to dial in the settings for your specific skin.

Heating up the dark pigment spots deep within the skin denatures them, the body rejects the cells, and they rise to the surface — where they flake away in a few days, leaving brighter, clearer skin.

"My Chest Looks Like It's 20 Years Younger."

★★★★★

"I'd had 'cosmetic chest' spots for years and was constantly wearing turtlenecks to hide them. After ONE BBL session with Dr. B, the spots darkened, flaked off over a week, and I'm now wearing V-necks again for the first time in a decade. Cannot believe it was just one session."

"Years of skiing without enough sunscreen left my face a mess of brown patches. Other places told me I'd need 6 BBL sessions. Halo did it in 3. The difference is night and day — I look like I actually rested over the winter, not like I just got back from spring break."

FAQs

Common Questions.

The honest answers Dr. B would give you in the room.

How many treatments will I really need?

You'll likely notice significant results after just one treatment. For more advanced cases of pigment concerns, we often recommend three treatments. Other practices offer BBL treatments in packages of six or more — that's not necessary at Halo. Better cooling control by our team equals deeper and better treatment effectiveness, which means fewer sessions for you.

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe BBL as a warm rubber-band snap during each flash of light. We use cooling and the sensation is brief — most patients tolerate it easily without any anesthetic numbing cream needed. Halo Laser uses topical numbing cream applied 30-45 minutes before treatment.

How does it actually fade the spots?

Heating up the dark pigment spots deep within the skin denatures them, and the body rejects the cells and they rise to the surface. Over the following days, the spots darken, then flake off naturally — leaving brighter, more even-toned skin.

Is there downtime?

For BBL: essentially none. You may have some pinkness for a few hours and your spots will darken visibly for 3-7 days before flaking off. Most patients return to normal activities immediately. For Halo Laser: 3-5 days of social downtime (bronzing → flake → reveal) depending on treatment intensity.

When will I see results?

Pigment fading is visible 2–4 weeks after BBL — the spots flake off in the first week and the underlying tone evens out over the following weeks. For deeper Halo Laser treatments, the glow appears 5-7 days post-treatment with collagen-driven improvements continuing for 3 months.

Will the spots come back?

The spots we treat are gone — but new pigment can form if you don't protect your skin from UV. Daily SPF 50+ and sun-protective behavior is non-negotiable for keeping results. We'll set you up with the right products at your visit. Many patients do an annual "touch-up" BBL session for maintenance.

Is BBL safe for all skin tones?

BBL is safe for most skin tones when settings are properly calibrated for your specific skin. That calibration is where experience matters most — and as the world's most experienced Sciton laser provider, we know exactly how to set the device for your skin to deliver results safely. Very dark skin tones (Fitzpatrick V–VI) may need alternative approaches; Dr. B will tell you straight during your consultation.

Can it treat melasma?

Yes — but melasma is more complex than simple sun damage and often requires a combined approach. We typically pair BBL with prescription topical brighteners and strict sun protection. Melasma can recur with sun exposure or hormone changes, so it's more of a "manage" than "cure" condition. Dr. B will set realistic expectations for your case.
